Naples “Saints and castles” Walking Tour

Meeting with the guide in Naples at 09:00 at the entrance of the Castel Nuovo (Maschio Angioino) located in Piazza Municipio. The guide will explain the history and peculiarities of this medieval fortress from the outside and then continue the tour to Piazza del Plebiscito. You will pass by one of the symbols and reason for pride in the city: the San Carlo theater, the first opera house in the world. In front of it is the Galleria Umberto I, another symbol of the Neapolitan city. Once in the majestic square you can admire from the outside the Royal Palace with the numerous statues of the kings that have followed one another over time and the Church of San Francesco di Paola which, with its colonnade, embraces the upper part of the square. If you wish, you can stop for a coffee at the historic Gran Caffè Gambrinus adjacent to the square.

You will continue towards via Toledo to reach the entrance of the central funicular with which you will go up to the Vomero district (ticket included). Going down to Piazza Fuga through a short walk you will reach the San Martino hill to admire the panorama from above and take some photos. Here is another of the fortresses of the city: Castel Sant’Elmo. Along the perimeter wall you will have the opportunity to enjoy the most beautiful panorama of the Gulf of Naples with its three islands, the historic center with the famous “Spaccanapoli” and the promenade (ticket included). Leaving the castle you will take the Montesanto funicular back to the center (ticket included).

The guide will lead you to Piazza Dante where you will have free time for a quick lunch. We suggest tasting the tasty Margherita pizza folded into four parts in the “wallet” manner. After the stop together with the guide you will immerse yourself in the heart of the city passing through the upper decuman, via Tribunali, until you reach the entrance of the famous via San Gregorio Armeno, known all over the world for the presence of the traditional workshops of artisans expert in crib art. Going all the way you will meet Spaccanapoli through which you will reach Piazza del Gesù passing in front of the church of Santa Chiara and the Church of Gesù Nuovo. End of the visit at 17:00.
