Royal Palace of Caserta
Meeting with the tour guide and departure by bus from the port of Naples to Caserta city.
The Royal Palace of Caserta is a historic residence that belonged to the Royal House of the Bourbons of Naples, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1997. Commissioned by the King of Naples Charles of Borbon (Charles III of Spain) who, impressed by the beauty of the landscape and eager to give a worthy representation for his kingdom, aspired to build a palace comparable to the beauty of Versailles but which aimed to give the kingdom of Naples a new capital. In fact, in terms of volume, the Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal residence in the world with over 2 million square meters, 1200 rooms, and is surrounded by a large panoramic park of 120 hectares with a length of 3 kilometers.
Upon arrival the guide will lead you to the museum area and the Staircase of Honor up to the upper floor where the Royal Apartments are located, which include the Throne Room, the Apartments of the XVIII century, the Rooms of the Four Seasons and the Palatine Library.
The royal palace is surrounded by a large park, of about one hundred and twenty hectares, divided into two areas: the Italian garden, with its fountains and the famous Grande waterfall and the English garden, characterized by dense forests (not included in the ticket).
At the end of the visit to the Royal Apartments, you will have free time to stroll in the park around the italian garden. After the visit return to the port of Naples.
